Nigeria LPG
The Nigerian LPG demand grew tenfold since 2010, displacing harmful fuels such as charcoal and kerosene. PAL Energies has been deeply involved in the Nigerian LPG market since the inception of the first independent LPG import terminal in Lagos back in 2010. Since, PAL has advised both financial as well as strategic investors on acquisitions of Nigeriaan companies active mid - and downstream LPG.

South Africa acces to energy
South Africa's energy distribution system has always relied on a coal fired electricity grid and refineries built in the 1950's. PAL is proud that it has contributed to SA's transition to clean fuels. It developed SA's first independent import terminal for low sulphur diesel and ULP. It als advised on an acquisition of a leading LPG distributor.
PAL ENERGIES
Projects
PAL Energies spearheaded numerous projects where improving energy access has been a central focus.
Our core expertise lies in import and distribution of clean (cooking) fuels. We have managed projects and businesses across the entire lifecycle and various segments of the supply chain.
Together with our partners, we have developed greenfield storage and import infrastructure, established greenfield LPG distribution businesses, and co-managed various M&A transactions.
Malawi LPG

LPG prices in Malawi are among the highest in Africa. Due to its landlocked position, only a few supply routes are available.
PAL Energies initiated a greenfield LPG storage project to source product from Dar Es Salaam and/or South Africa. As part of this initiative, 100,000 stoves and cylinders were set to be introduced into the Lilongwe market at discounted rates.
Our partners facilitated access to carbon markets enabling us to subsidise the prices of stoves and cylinders.
Zambia clean cooking
Zambia is still covered with forests and 50% of its growing population is living in cities. In Lusaka, more than 80% of the population relies on charcoal and wood for cooking. PAL raised a €2 million grant for the development of a pellet production and distribution system, capable of supplying 40 thousand housholds. PAL's submission to raise funds for a LPG distribution business in Zambia's underserved Copperbelt was shortlisted by the Nordic development fund.

Burkina Faso LPG

Burkina Faso has known subsidies on LPG since the 1980's. Today, LPG penetration in the capital Ouagadougou is over 50% which can be considered high in a country where 40% of the population lives below the poverty line. PAL Energies partnered with a large infrastructure fund to support the acquisition of a significant equity stake in Burkina Faso's leading LPG distributor.
Ghana LPG cylinder manufacturing
Ghana is seeing significant efforts to improve LPG regulations and foster a safe and reliable LPG supply. This includes safety on LPG cylinders. PAL Energies advised the Ghanaian Government on revamping the cylinder assembly facility of the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company and developed a new manufacturing strategy.

Kenya LPG
Kenya has a fast growing LPG market driven by favorable LPG regulation and ample supply from Mombasa. PAL partnered with a large infrastructure fund in a competitive Bid for Kenya's largest LPG import and distribution company.

Morocco LPG
Morrocco has one of the highest LPG penetration levels in the world. Driven by subsidies, more than 90% of the population uses LPG for cooking and heating. It is today the second- largest LPG market in Africa (after Egypt). PAL partnered with an infrastructure fund to acquire a stake in one of the leading LPG distributors.
Namibia supply corridor

Walvisbay's old port infrastructure is insufficient to serve not only Namibia's own growing (strategic) needs for clean energy, but also that of neighboring landlocked countries like Botswana and Zambia. The Newport in Walvisbay forms the basis of a regional supply strategy and PAL Energies, in collaboration with a fuel distributor, developed a business case to import low-sulphur diesel and LPG into Walvis Bay.
